True Blue Me & You: Doable Unique DIYs

If you are unfamiliar with this blog, it is SO FUN!  I am addicted to DIYs, and I don’t do that many yet, but I LOVE to read about them and find more.  My Pinterest boards are FULL of so many types of DIYs.  I have often thought about having a blog that only shares super awesome DIYs and tutorials.  But there are already a lot of blogs that do just that.

Besides, I am so inconsistent and unorganized.  I would really need to up my game to have a blog like she does.  Though I might someday open a Tumblr blog, maybe when I have time to take more photos of things.

So there you go!

PAD: Nightmares

Daily Prompt: Describe the last nightmare you remember having. What do you think it meant?

….SKIP!

The whole purpose of  NIGHTmares is they happen at night when you are asleep.  There’s nothing I want more after a nightmare then to wake up and forget it.  Not relive it.

That being said I had 2 last night, one I don’t want to talk about, the other involved fish, frogs, and lizards.  All in a slimy form I actually had to touch.

Freaky_fish

Fish on the left are big enough (maybe a little too big). Fish on the right are making me want to run away.

If you don’t already know, fish kinda freak me out.  I like the Aquarium at the zoo because the tanks are huge and there’s lots of space in between them and me.  However I don’t want to walk the aisles at a pet store that is dedicated to fish.  That freaks me out like crazy.  Being surrounded by tanks of water with absurdly large fish…I’ll pass.

flounder

Are you kidding me lady? Too big, much too big!

Lizards don’t freak me out at all.  Frogs don’t really either, it just so happened my nightmare frogs were the size of basketballs and I had to pick them up and stick them in the water!  EWW!

PAD: Teachable Moment

Daily Prompt: You have to learn a new skill. Do you prefer to read about it, watch someone else do it, hear someone describe it, or try it yourself?

failure-to-try-quotes

This is easy to answer: I try it myself!

This you will totally see in my Year of Something New.  Currently I have deviated from my previous February plans, I just haven’t filled you all in on the “why” yet.  Soon though, soon!  Its a big deal, and I’m pretty excited about it 🙂

Anyway, I love to try new things, I love to taste new foods and drinks, meet new people!  I will often try something new before choosing something I’ve already done, even if I really like it, if given the option.  “I wanna go!”  …. “I’ll eat it!”  …. are typical things you will hear me say!

PAD: Writing Room

Daily Prompt: A genie has granted your wish to build your perfect space for reading and writing. What’s it like?

My room is for reading, because I love to read – not so much with the writing!

My room is full of books, floor to ceiling and the ceiling is so high I have one of those rolling ladders!

The room isn’t a square or rectangle, it has alcoves and smaller “rooms” within the big room.

There are couches and lounges and over-stuffed chairs, side tables with lamps, large desks with ornate lamps, chandeliers hanging from the high ceilings.

There are floor cushions and pillows, luscious floor rugs, places to lay down, places to prop on the pillows, places to sit and read anything I want!

My awesome "reading room"

My awesome “reading room”

PAD: 1984

Daily Prompt: You’re locked in a room with your greatest fear. Describe what’s in the room.

I’m alone in a room but I am slowly learning that everyone I know and love is dead, and I am learning how they died.  Worse, I also was unable to help any of them- not because I personally couldn’t do it, but because I couldn’t get to them or I wasn’t able to stop it.

While this is going on, the room is slowly but surely filling with water.  Right as I am finding out about the last person, I drown.

^ 2 of my worst nightmares right there, people I love die and not in natural “nice” ways, and I can’t stop it.  I am also pretty darn fearful of drowning.  Not as bad as when I was a kid, but I don’t go in water deeper than 5 feet, and I typically stay in the 4.5 feet deep areas if possible.

PAD: Quote Me

Daily Prompt: Do you have a favorite quote that you return to again and again? What is it, and why does it move you?

Indeedy.

“Take me for what I am….who I was meant to be!”   ~RENT the show/movie/musical
Kinda self-explanatory dont’cha think.

“Remember that it makes absolutely no difference what other people think of you! We all need to understand that there is no such thing as perfection. Strive for excellence, that is achievable, and detach from what others think and say about you. If they don’t approve of what you do or who you are, let it be their problem. Be true to yourself!”
~John F Barnes, PT
Just what it says- Be True to Me, I shouldn’t have to change who I am so other people will think “better” of me.  I’ll be me and you be you.  Everyone’s much happier that way.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style”
― Maya Angelou
Someday I am going to get this as a tattoo.  Maybe the shortened version though.  Its such a great way to try to live your life, these are the values and personality characteristics that everyone should display and our society might be moving in a better direction.

Stephen King: “Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend.”
This is just funny, and oh so true!  Even though I enjoyed parts of Twilight, mainly Breaking Dawn (you know because suddenly Bella becomes a person on her own), Harry Potter is an amazing story and the movies have almost all lived up to the books.

PAD: Kick It

Daily Prompt: What’s the 11th item on your bucket list?

I don’t have a bucket list.  However on my 35 Before 35 List #11 is: Figure out how to use my Wacom tablet and make art with it.  That’s a good one.  Maybe I can try something this year.  It is my Year of Something New after all.

Then in my Year of Something New, my 11th month of November is: Family Time.  I will spend that month with my family and friends and reconnecting with friends who maybe I haven’t spent much time with or talked to often!
