Daily Prompt: Showdown at Big Sky

Conflict photo

Daily Prompt: How do you handle conflict? Boldly and directly? Or, do you prefer a more subtle approach.

It depends on the type of conflict, really.  I’m a pretty straight-forward person and like it when people honestly tell me whats going on or if something between us isn’t right.  So I usually face conflict directly because I think its the easiest way to air everything out and be honest.

There are a few situations, however, that I do not always confront directly.  Sometimes if its with someone I just met or don’t see very often, I’m either still too shy or can’t find the perfect time to bring it up.  Then I might avoid it or try to get over it.  That usually don’t work out so well, but sometimes if I put it off, I will calm down and it won’t be such a big deal anymore.

Daily Prompt: Tainted Love

Daily Prompt: Ever been dumped by a boyfriend or girlfriend? Was it a total surprise, or something you saw coming? Tell us your best worst breakup story.

Several years ago, I was in college and this guy I had met my first year of college, he lived across the street from me, I really had a close and interesting friendship with him.  But I never pursued it because I had a boyfriend at the time.

About a year later I was single and we started talking again and eventually started dating.  It was decent for about 1.5 years but nothing special.

In 2005, we had been dating for a bit and I had just went to visit him at his apartment, which, mind you, is almost 3 hours from where I was living.  We spent the weekend together, everything seemed fine.  Less than 48 hours later, he calls me to tell me its over.  Get this, he says its not going to work because….wait for it…”the economy is bad and its hard to find a job.”  I am not —- you.  I wrote it down I was so in shock that this could possibly be real.

Yes, this guy, broke up with me, because it will be hard to find a job after I graduate, which was was in May 2006.  For me, or him?  That was the question.  He wanted to work on soundtracks for movies.  He was a film major.  He must have been talking about himself!

GHe’s called me a few times since we broke up, IM’d me, emailed me.  I haven’t responded yet.  Just waiting for him to show up at my door.  LOL.

But seriously, whatevs.  Fo reals.

Daily Prompt: Nothin’ But A Good Thing

Daily Prompt: Imagine that tomorrow, all of your duties and obligations evaporate for the day. You get the day all to yourself, to do anything you please. What types of fun activities would make your day?

What a good prompt.  If I had nothing to do, and no studying to worry about…I had originally thought I would sleep in, but no, then I would move slower and not have any fun.

I would make some jewelry that I have been putting off because I didn’t have the time.  I would try new things with some jewelry findings I have that I don’t know what to do with.

I would paint.  It has been way too long and I really miss it.  I would find my watercolor gelatos (WHERE ARE THEY?!) and play around with those.  Maybe make some pieces to scan and add to my digital designs.

Then I’d spend a few hours making digital artwork.  I’d mess in Photoshop and Illustrator and alter everything and just experiment and play.

I’d have Jimmy Johns (#12 unwich all the way) for lunch with a Mtn Dew.  YUM!

I’d go visit my niece and nephew and play with them for a few hours.

Maybe I would do some sewing and refashioning from my ever growing pile of fabrics and clothes!  FUN!

Good question today!

Daily Prompt: Lucky Star

Daily Prompt: Today is your lucky day. You get three wishes, granted to you by The Daily Post. What are your three wishes and why?

1. To win the lottery: so I can stop worrying about money for awhile and just focus on what needs doing and what I love to do.

2. To get 5 more hours every day: then I can sleep in and still have ample time for studying, working, and playing.

3. To enjoy my favorite full wheat beers again: I’ll give up the rest of the food, but I would love to go to a bar and just grab a beer and enjoy.

Daily Prompt: Generation XYZ

Daily Prompt:  Think about the generation immediately younger or older than you. What do you understand least about them — and what can you learn from them?

iGaIDSP

I had to Google which Generation I am considered.  I was born in 1983, and according to several websites, I am not a Generation X like I had previously thought, those people were born 1960-1980.  Generation Y must be 1981-2000s.  Thats if we are being technical, but I gotta say, I do not feel like a Gen Y category person.

I find it so surprising how kids born in the 1990s-2000s (and beyond) tend to be such bullies.  I honestly don’t think it was so bad when I was growing up, and not because I wasn’t teased or picked on.  I certainly was.  There was a girl in grade school and high school who constantly teased me because I was so skinny.  I got so fed up I called her fat.  Now obviously that is taken differently and I felt bad saying it, because she wasn’t, but I was sick of being picked on for my body type.  I asked her to stop talking to me for weeks before I finally said that, and then she did stop talking to me.

I’m getting off subject.  Maybe I just hear about it more now that I am older, but so often kids are bullying each other to the point of suicide.  In the most tolerant generation of racial and stereotypical manners, the younger children (Gen Z?) are such extreme bullies.  Facebook pages like ….OMG now I can’t find them on my page…geez.

Anyway, I can’t believe we have to make pages about how we support people different from ourselves and there are people commenting about how “insert bad word” these feelings and lifestyles are.  Just because it differs from your lifestyle or belief system.  Makes me sad.

Basically same subject for the older generations.  Naturally, there are some good eggs in both generations.
