I’ve Decided to Sell My Jewelry-making & Bead Stash!

Its true, I’m selling off a lot of my jewelry-making and bead stash.  I have a problem….I am so busy with school and family, I have no time for jewelry-making, yet I kept buying.  I’ve made a few pieces, but not enough to make it worth keeping all these beads!

Don’t judge, I know how much I have (yikes!).  I’m not looking to profit off my stash, just to recoup some of my costs.  You pay shipping costs and an extra 20 cents to offset the billing fees of PayPal, the price has been totaled for each piece.  If items are missing a cost, its because I need to count the items or find out exactly the type of bead before I want to set a price.

I will be posting my items on my blog on a separate page, as well as on my Facebook page in a photo album and on a few Facebook Stash Buster groups.  First person who sends me their email address via my email, message on Facebook, or commenting on the photo, will be sent an invoice via PayPal for the price of the item and shipping costs.  All shipping costs are estimated because I never have any luck with the USPS website.  But I’ve shipped some beads before and can make a good estimate!

I also have a lot of jewelry items in my Christina Designs Art Etsy store and Christina Designs Art Craftstar shop for you to see!  Please stop by and check everything out 🙂  Oh, and I have a coupon right now for both stores: Etsy~ spend $5 or more for free shipping off your order and use coupon code 2014January until Jan 31.  Craftstar~ for free shipping off any item in my store, use coupon code NEWYEAR2013.  I’m going to continue with my store, it just won’t be very diversified.  Stick to what I’m good at, I hear that’s a plus with online stores anyway!

Check out this page:      Destash Supplies      for my destash!

Check out this photo album on Facebook:      Destash Supplies on Facebook     for my destash!

Thanks!  I look forward to someone receiving these beautiful beads and fun supplies!!

My Pinterest Account was Hacked

Sharpei puppy

Not related whatsoever, just plain adorable. Available as a wallpaper here.

I was playing around on Pinterest from my Kindle Fire Sunday evening.  I went to sleep, woke up Monday, and sometime in the late morning went to Pin something…..and a new board had been made.  One that I most definitely had not made.

I immediately opened up my profile page on Pinterest, found my boards and clicked Edit on the imposter board.  It said I had made it.  Knowing this was false, I quickly deleted the board and the only pin that was inside it, and changed my password.

Nothing happened until yesterday, I received an email from Pinterest saying that I was having trouble logging in and giving me the option to change my password.  I was having no such trouble.  Luckily this hacker did not have my email password, so I’m not too worried about that.  Although I think I will change it anyway.

My next step was to contact Pinterest and report this activity.  Unfortunately it seems this either hasn’t happened to anyone yet, or they haven’t had enough complaints.  I could find the topic anywhere or the option to state what my problem was in the contact form.  I still haven’t heard a response from Pinterest, probably because it was sent to the wrong department or something!

I’m writing this to alert you, I’m sure it won’t happen the same way twice, but just incase.  The fake board was called “MUSTTRY5” and included only one pin that had a photo of a Before/After Weight Loss and a semi-long description about “how I lost weight”.  Which if you’ve seen any of my fitness pins, they never include stuff like that!  So WARNING!  If you saw that, or see it anywhere, be very careful what you pin!!  Also, be careful what you click on, I have NO IDEA how this person got my Pinterest password/account info because I don’t use Pinterest to log into anything online.  And I only log into Pinterest from 2 places, soooo?!

Now, I know I wrote that I cleaned my Pinterest boards a few months ago, well now I am cleaning out boards I “follow” and only keeping a minimum of those.  Some aren’t even active anymore.  There are a bunch that I obviously started following 2 years ago because a several were food related!  (I don’t follow anything besides gluten-free boards anymore)  Anyway…so maybe one of those boards or even a newer board was part of the problem.  Its just a good idea to do some spring cleaning online every now and then.  Change up what pins I see.  That kinda thing.

When I finish the great Pinterest cleanup, I thought it would be fun to highlight some of my favorite pinners or pin boards.  Just a thought, that gives me a semi-deadline and goal besides just deleting stuff I don’t care about anymore.

I hope this doesn’t happen to you, it was no fun!

Life Got Busy….Again

I haven’t really felt motivated to write a post in awhile, obviously you can see the last time I actually posted something I wrote.

Finals week was crazy during school, last quarter I had practicals I needed to pass, and the last one had me really nervous!  I did great on all my practicals though and I think my final exams went well 🙂  I won’t know my grades until the first day of next quarter….thats tomorrow btw!  My break week was this past week and I spent the entire time (well mostly) planning and progressing through an extra large painting!  Still working on it, I have a total of 3 weeks to finish it and be happy with the final result.

I changed a few colors and painted over a few things that weren’t quite right.  I’ve been watching plenty of YouTube videos to perfect my painting and learn a few new techniques.  I’ve had to relearn some color theory which has really improved the composition.  I’m pretty happy with what I have so far, and overall in sense of space its more than half done.  But in sense of time and detail- not so much.

Luckily this first week should be fairly light on homework, so I should progress a decent amount this week and hopefully will only have to do a few touch-ups and apply varnish the 3rd week.  I don’t believe I should share the painting with you all yet, because I am making it for a restaurant (HELL YEAH!), and since its basically a commission, I should really wait until it is finished and in place.  So be excited for that, I will share finished photos and some of my progress photos if you are interested.

I’ve also been keeping busy with some babysitting the babies, my niece and nephew have both started rolling over, its so cute!  They are going to be 5 months old on October 4th!!!  Yay!  They are both growing big and have started drooling like crazy!  haha And just this past week have started on rice cereal!  Always an adventure with those kids 🙂

I went to a local festival and found these cute little handmade necklace terrariums!  Have to share, I did not pick one up, but I thought they were adorable!  Check out her Etsy Shop: CraveJewelryDesign and another shop: Sparkover that is repurposed circuit board jewelry.  Maybe the terrariums are a new line, they aren’t listed in her Etsy shop.  Either way, I love that they are upcycling items into jewelry, and thinking differently.  That right there, is a win!

Oh, and one last thing, have any of you ever heard of Garage Sale groups on Facebook?  They are my new favorite things!  I might be addicted, but I’ve already sold a bunch of things on there.  Better luck than Craigslist sometimes!  Anyway, just search “your city Garage Sale” on Facebook and I bet you’ll find some groups!  Also try, yard sales, sales, Christmas sale, craft sales, etc.  I have joined quite a few in the area and even sold some of my handmade items there!  I am hoping to sell more before Christmas too 🙂

Artomatic 419: Featuring some very unique local art finds!

3 weeks ago I went to a local art show, Artomatic 419, 3 weekends of local artists showing their work, in this massive warehouse!  It was so cool.  Its been held near me for the past few years, but I’ve never been able to go before.  I penned it in this year and went with my boyfriend and a friend.  I had an awesome time.  I saw so much art, so many different mediums, and some artists were evening working right there for people to see!  One artist was “engraving” in clay (I don’t even know if thats accurate terminology), she was using some sort of carving tool to carve designs and words on the clay, then its baked and painted.  There were 2 people painting a large scale painting up on a wall.  There was string art (pictured below), pottery, jewelry, photography, ceramics, etc!  I loved it!  It was very informal, a band playing in one room, a woman singing in another, active/live art installations going on in other rooms.

I photographed a few of the most unique artists I saw, and some of their work.  I really loved these works, hopefully you will visit their websites or fan pages!

I loved the use of colors and dots in this work.  I will admit- lots of art goes right over my head!  Not at all sure what some of this means, but I enjoyed it anyway.  lol I totally see the business cards on the wall to the right there….awesome, totally didn’t pick one up!  Or maybe I lost it.

Beautiful leather cuffs

The artist is Earth Grrrl, Ila Earthdaughter, artist, crafter, sassy britches.  I really liked her leather cuffs.  So pretty 🙂  AND they are made from leather belts!  Upcycle win!  And the light switch plates, copper!  I love copper, I have made some things myself with copper.  You can even shop locally from her at various Toledo, OH shops, or at her website for home decor (switch plates in here!) and necklacesA portion of all her sales goes to 28 Too Many, “a values based FGM charity funded by supporters and donations, created to help eradicate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the twenty-eight countries within Africa where it is still practiced. Founded in 2010, it takes a stand against FGM (also known as Female Genital Cutting).”
