Daily Prompt: Showdown at Big Sky

Conflict photo

Daily Prompt: How do you handle conflict? Boldly and directly? Or, do you prefer a more subtle approach.

It depends on the type of conflict, really.  I’m a pretty straight-forward person and like it when people honestly tell me whats going on or if something between us isn’t right.  So I usually face conflict directly because I think its the easiest way to air everything out and be honest.

There are a few situations, however, that I do not always confront directly.  Sometimes if its with someone I just met or don’t see very often, I’m either still too shy or can’t find the perfect time to bring it up.  Then I might avoid it or try to get over it.  That usually don’t work out so well, but sometimes if I put it off, I will calm down and it won’t be such a big deal anymore.

Daily Prompt: Generation XYZ

Daily Prompt:  Think about the generation immediately younger or older than you. What do you understand least about them — and what can you learn from them?

iGaIDSP

I had to Google which Generation I am considered.  I was born in 1983, and according to several websites, I am not a Generation X like I had previously thought, those people were born 1960-1980.  Generation Y must be 1981-2000s.  Thats if we are being technical, but I gotta say, I do not feel like a Gen Y category person.

I find it so surprising how kids born in the 1990s-2000s (and beyond) tend to be such bullies.  I honestly don’t think it was so bad when I was growing up, and not because I wasn’t teased or picked on.  I certainly was.  There was a girl in grade school and high school who constantly teased me because I was so skinny.  I got so fed up I called her fat.  Now obviously that is taken differently and I felt bad saying it, because she wasn’t, but I was sick of being picked on for my body type.  I asked her to stop talking to me for weeks before I finally said that, and then she did stop talking to me.

I’m getting off subject.  Maybe I just hear about it more now that I am older, but so often kids are bullying each other to the point of suicide.  In the most tolerant generation of racial and stereotypical manners, the younger children (Gen Z?) are such extreme bullies.  Facebook pages like ….OMG now I can’t find them on my page…geez.

Anyway, I can’t believe we have to make pages about how we support people different from ourselves and there are people commenting about how “insert bad word” these feelings and lifestyles are.  Just because it differs from your lifestyle or belief system.  Makes me sad.

Basically same subject for the older generations.  Naturally, there are some good eggs in both generations.

Daily Prompt: But No Cigar

I feel like I just answered this yesterday.  Why are similar prompts within a day of each other??

Daily Prompt: Tell us about a time things came this close to working out… but didn’t. What happened next? Would you like the chance to try again, or are you happy with how things eventually worked out?

Actually this just happened, like a few weeks ago over Christmas holidays.  I don’t really want to fully discuss it because I didn’t really tell everyone who might see this blog.  But it was a huge thing and I was very discouraged for about a week until I started to move past it and look at my options.

If nothing else, it has shown me I need to work harder for what I want.  I need to get off the computer (just a minute), I need to focus on the task at hand, I need to put away all the other distractions, spend more time at home being productive and less time spending money I don’t have.  (Have you checked out my Destash page yet?)

For New Years one of my resolutions/goals was to try for a regular yoga practice.  About 2 years ago I was swapping 1 hour of massage therapy for 1 hour of yoga a week with the instructor.  For some reason, I just sort of quit that.  I didn’t fully love yoga, but I could tell a difference between exercising with yoga, and not doing anything.  Now I don’t do anything, no exercise.  Anyway, doing yoga has so many benefits, many of which include concentration and subjecting your body to stress and teaching it to relax.  All things that could benefit my “so close” moment.

I also started reading a book, Help Me Find a Career: Strategies to Choose Work You Will Love by Janet Scarborough Civitelli, PhD.  The first chapter was most enlightening, the author suggested having more than one method of receiving income.  Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, essentially.  Because what if it doesn’t work out?  You might be left with nothing, I certainly was feeling like that over Christmas when all of this went down.  After I read that, I have been looking for other ways to make small bits of income.  I have found a few that I work on a little everyday.  They aren’t big money makers, but its more than I had before!  In fact, I’m making a little bit right now as I write this, and it has nothing to do with this blog!

So to sum it up, it was horrible at the time, but I am working through it and hope to be better off because of it.

Daily Prompt: Singular Sensation

Daily Prompt: If you could have a guarantee that one, specific person was reading your blog, who would you want that person to be? Why? What do you want to say to them?

I can’t think of anyone super awesome that I would definitely want to read my blog.

It would be nice to be “found” though.  If a graphic design headhunter was out searching for that one perfect creative person to fill their digital artwork void, I would love them to find me.  It might be hard though, I have only shared a small portion of my digital artwork on here.  I was hoping to pursue my digital artwork more this year, share it with everyone, as well as open up a shop for it.
